Just like when i was a kid, the minute my parents started liking something i couldn’t like it anymore…
So facebook was fun while it lasted.  I don’t really consider the site that is today to really be the same (and not because my friends tally has been stagnant for a year now).  Nowadays i’m being contacted by family members almost exclusively, it went from a college debauchery showcase to an online family reunion.
This aside, i believe facebook is trying to take off way more than it can chew, i wouldn’t be surprised if you told me there was a facebook OS in the making, you could instantly share everything you did on your computer as you did it… Â The other day i read about an interesting company developing a platform called Diaspora, basically a social media platform that would be deployed on a personal server.
I think this idea is fantastic, though wordpress might already provide alot of what this will do the idea of customizeing my social experience and having all the data available to a company like facebook moved to server i control is very enticing.  If you get a chance go over and check out what they’re up to.
